Find your happy

Bad news travels faster than good news. It’s a proven fact. You’ll hear about a dirty restaurant with dry food before you hear about a five-star restaurant with delicious meals.
Why do we do that? Why are we so quick to share the negative? Society has made it so easy for us to do this. We’ve (well, ya’ll…I have no parts in this) just recently made a young, very disrespectful girl famous and rich because of how negative and ratchet she is.
We do this internally as well. We take the time to sit and harbor on ill feelings, things that make us sad, upset or even miserable. We will let one minute of our day ruin the other 23 hours and 59 minutes.
Mental and spiritual warfare is very real and very dangerous. We have to combat these negative thoughts with positive ones. I know, sometimes its easier said than done, but you have to start somewhere. I promise it’ll get easier.
Here are ten things that make me happy right now that I can do or think on to combat negative self-talk.

My sanity. My happy place. My personal diary. My sometime chaotic mess that morphs into something brilliant. Sometimes, the best way to get out of a negative space is to vent. We can’t always vent to people because they can bounce negative energy right back to us. Write it down and move on.

I am constantly listening music and catering playlists to my specific moods. There is literally dozens of them in my phone. My morning motivation playlist (see my previously blog about cubicle blues), my shower playlist, my workout playlist, my praise playlist, etc… Music just has the superpower of changing moods.

A good mani pedi

The only thing I love more than getting a bomb full set of coffin nails is getting my feet rubbed.

Tub time

True to my sign, nothing calms me quicker than a nice hot bath.

Kind of goes without saying.

Although He wasn’t first on this list, He will always be first when it comes to my joy. Happiness is based on situations. God is pure, unfiltered joy.

Especially the ones I’ve seen countless times and still watch to quote every line.

Okay so everything on this list isn’t healthy…I have got to stop being an emotional eater. But doesn’t ice cream just change your life?

Dynamic Image

My heart. Pretty much explained in number one. Seeing people touched by my books is an amazing feeling. I stalk my review section on Amazon.

Indirect happiness

Because if you can’t be happy for your friends and family, you kind of suck (see previous blog on being a hater).

What are ten things that make you happy? (Don’t tell me all 10…just share a few 🤗 .)

It doesn’t take much to make me happy. Quality time with friends & family are when I’m the happiest. We don’t even have to converse, simply being in the presence of them fills me with joy. I love music. Whether I’m singing, playing an instrument or just listening, I’m good. God is my joy and nothing compares the the “happiness” I feel when I’m in His presence. Just to name a few!

Most of these would make as well. I would have to add doing crafts to my list. It doesn’t matter if it’s sewing, painting a picture frame, scrapbooking or baking/decorating a cake, I use that time to zone out and focus on whatever I’m working on. Seeing the final creation always brings a big smile to my face.

You are so right! I sew a little and I always get a little giddy when it comes out like it should. I’m definitely adding that to my list. Thanks for reading!
